National Parks
The Townsville region is surrounded by beautiful mainland and island National Parks. The most famous of the region’s National Parks is the Hinchinbrook Island National Park, which includes Hinchinbrook Channel and Island, the world's largest national park island and home of the internationally acclaimed "Thorsborne Trail". Magnetic, Orpheus, Dunk and Bedarra Islands, which hug the region's coastline, are also zoned as National Parks and offer visitors a wide variety of experiences. For nature enthusiasts and "eco-tourists", the Townsville region offers a feast of natural and diverse environments, flora, fauna and eco friendly, sustainable recreational activities. For detailed information on the National Parks found in this region visit the Environmental Protection Agency website.
